Nashville National Cup Series (formerly Highland Rim Cup)

The tradition continues in 2017 with a new name, fresh look, and better chance at claiming the Cup. Nashville National Cup Series combines team competition with a race to the individual points cup champion.  

The 2017 Cup Series has 5 events. The foundation is a 2-person scramble, the format will change for various cup events (Scramble, Trifecta, Shamble, and Best-Ball)

Each Nashville National Cup event is $60 per player. They include green fees, cart, range balls, prize pool, and skill prizes. $30 of the entry fee goes toward the event prize pools and $5 toward the par 3s Closest to the Pin prize pool. 

2017 Nashville National Cup Series rules are as follows:

  • Format is 2-person team with a team score determining the flight positioning at the end of each event
  • The game for each event will be scramble format
  • 2-person teams will be paired with another 2-person team based on a blind draw prior to the event
  • Teams will be flighted based on score submitted and attested by playing partner team
    • In the event of a tie score, a scorecard playoff (team score starting with lowest handicap hole) will determine winner and will receive the better flight position
      • Winner of scorecard playoff within same flight will receive better flight position
      • When determining which flight teams falls into (last in 1st flight and 1st in 2nd flight), winner of scorecard playoff will be placed in lower flight thus winning the higher position and points (winner wins next flight, and other team gets last place in previous flight
    • Flights will consist of 10 teams before creating another flight
    • Each flight position earns points as listed in the table below
  • In the case of bad weather affecting play, all players must have played at least 9 common holes that all other players have played for the event to be official
    • A minimum of 9 holes that are all common to teams will determine scoring and placement into flights
    • Closest to the Pin on par 3s will be determined by the number of par 3s that are common to above 9 holes
    • Without the completion of 9 common holes, event will be rescheduled (refunded or fees applied to rescheduled event) and played in its entirety

  • Closest to the Pin winners will be awarded 5 points per hole won
    • 5 closest to the pin contests based on full completed event
  • Each player earns the poisition points where team placed (1st place - each player earns 25 points) and accumulate individually throughout the remaining 4 events in 2017
  • Player with highest point total after the October 21st event will be crowned Cup Series Champion
  • Nashville National Cup Series player rankings and point totals will be posted after the event on the Nashville National Cup web page 
  • When there are an odd number of teams, the extra team will be assigned to the first flight
  • 2-person teams do not have to be the same players for every event. Players earn each points towards the Cup Championship based on event performace and accumulate individually
  • Tees:
    • Gold - Men under 55
    • Brown - Seniors 55-74
    • Green - Ladies, Juniors, Seniors 75+
  • The year end prize pool will be awarded to the Top 10 in total points after the October 21st event
    • The year-end prize pool is based on the total number of players that play in each of the 7 events, plus a donation from the house to start the pool 
  • Prizes will be awarded Visa (or similar) gift cards


Every attempt was made to cover the major rules that will be followed, however in the event that a rule revision is necessary, Nashville National Golf Links reserves the right to make such changes to these rules. An email will be distriburted to player participants prior to the next event on any rule revisions

  • Range opens at noon - Shotgun start at 1 PM
  • All events $60 per player

April 8 – April Mastery (Scramble)
July 1 – July Fireworks (Scramble)
August 5 – August Open (Scramble)
September 2 - September Trifecta (Trifecta)
October 21 – For the Championship (Scramble) - NOON Shotgun Start!
